The controllers will enter this week the first 16 entities to receive grants from the National Recovery Plan for the HoReCa industry. Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced the next task next week.
The scandal with spending money from KPO broke out after media reports of subsidies to buy corporate yachts. Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced last week the suspension of payments until the case was resolved.
The EPPO shall examine the case
"All 5 operators proceed to check, they will end in September" - said Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, according to PAP. The first 16 projects considered questionable will be inspected on the place this week, next week.
The European Public Prosecutor's Office besides entered the action, which examines whether the funds from the KPO were spent in accordance with EU rules. Independently, checks are ongoing to verify possible conflicts of interest.
Millions already paid
According to PARP data, 3 1000 contracts with entrepreneurs have already been signed and 110 million PLN has been paid out from the full PLN 1.24 billion. If the irregularities are confirmed, the contracts can be terminated and the funds received.
The Polish Agency for Enterprise improvement ensures that it makes all effort to guarantee that the controls are as burdensome as possible for entrepreneurs. At the same time, all irregularities are to be effectively identified and settled.
Support programme for industry
The support programme included investments in machinery, equipment, training and green transformation. The maximum amount of the grant was PLN 540 thousand, covering up to 90 percent of the eligible costs.
The recruitments lasted from May to October 2024 and enjoyed large interest. The HoReCa industry, which suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, was to receive support for diversification of activities.
Massive Union measures
The National Reconstruction Plan provides for a full of EUR 59.8 billion for Poland, of which EUR 25.27 billion in the form of grants. To date, PLN 67 billion have already been sent to Poland, and another tranche is expected to affect in the autumn.
Last week PLN 250 million was paid for various investments, including infirmary improvement and green urban transformation. Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz assures that control of spending remains a precedence of the government.
