About the War at the Karpacz economical Forum

Poland's strong position in NATO, strengthening its own defence manufacture and building social cohesion are the main topics of the debate on Poland's current situation in connection with the war in Ukraine. Panel "It was calm. Poland at war" was an chance to exchange views of the ruling, people of politics, armed forces, science, manufacture and media.

The situation of Poland in connection with the war behind our east border was the subject of another panel at the economical Forum "It was easy. Poland at War". The debate was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Head of the National safety Bureau Jacek Siewara, erstwhile Chief of General Staff Gen. Rajmund Andrzejczak, president of Poland Amunicja Paweł Poncyljusz, writer Zbigniew Parafianowicz and Rector of the Warsaw University Prof. Alojzy Nowak. The participants of the gathering discussed how Russia's aggression on Ukraine shattered the conviction of Europe's functioning in a lasting peace. The last 2 years are a process of building a cross-party consensus on the size of our army and Polish engagement in war activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out that the war opened the eyes of Europe moving manufacture increasingly towards safety activity. – More and more, but not yet full – the Prime Minister stated.

"The European Union must be liable for the arms manufacture in its territory. We request to rebuild our production capacity, which is what the Commissioner for Defence is called for the first time, and indeed for the defence industry. The creation of a peculiar fund for the improvement of the arms manufacture of at least EUR 100 billion is the minimum of what we gotta spend – the head of the Ministry of Defence said.

Three Pillars

Jacek Siewara agreed with the Deputy Prime Minister and pointed out that 3 pillars are needed in order to avoid specified a situation as Ukraine in Poland: the improvement of armed forces, the strengthening of alliances and the restoration of unity, national cohesion along with the continuity of the strategical thought of the state.

Referring to the improvement of the Siewara armed forces, he felt that the good decisions of the erstwhile government on the acquisition of arms allowed for the construction of specified a turnaround of supplies of this equipment so that present he could build armed forces to meet the challenges ahead of the Republic in the coming decades.

– It is essential to improvement the strategy of state defence and the strategy of command and command of the army, which is to give a fresh architecture, which Mr President, together with the Ministry of Defence, has proposed for the second time in this parliament. (...) This is simply a major improvement transforming operational command, general command, giving fresh rules for the usage of the armed forces," noted the Head of the BBN.

Social support

The request to strengthen the military capabilities of our country, the strong participation of Poland in NATO structures, as well as to build public support for these activities was discussed by Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.

– In a time of hybrid war utilizing modern techniques of influence on the recipient, the subject of appropriate information to the public and building desirable, disinformation-resistant attitudes becomes highly important. Without this, it will be hard not only for Poland but besides for the European consensus to support Ukraine together," said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.

Regarding the issue of social cohesion, the Head of the BBN utilized a comparison with the forces operating in the piston under pressure, which origin e.g. the fluid inside to extend to the edge. “It is so on our political phase (...). The triumph of specified polarization comes from a nation that is able to rebuild social consent in the center (...). Under pressure, this nation will survive, which will build a strong centre – he said, thanking Vice Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamish for his actions in this direction.

– In the context of the upcoming presidential elections – fundamentally important, due to the fact that the decisions that will take place over the next 5 years will form the safety order, not only in Poland, but in this part of the planet and in the planet in general – these will be decisions concerning the European integration of the quality of political leadership and the ability to combine, knowing what is common will be fundamental," Siewier said.
