The draft law on the non-punishment of volunteers defending the freedom and independency of Ukraine provides that "he forgives and forgets crimes and misdemeanors" committed from 24 February 2022 until the end of December 2026 and consisting in taking up service in the Ukrainian army without the required approval – nor will the recruitment of volunteers to the Ukrainian army be prosecuted. At the same time, it is only about fighting against Russian assault in the Armed Forces of Ukraine subject to the legitimate authorities recognized by the Polish Republic. Service in mercenary formations and enlistment to them will stay punishable.
