Greenland, which has been an autonomous territory of Denmark for decades, has immense reserves of critical minerals, while occupying a strategical location in the Arctic.
The US delegation, which arrived in Greenland on Friday, besides included Vance's wife, Usha, national safety advisor Mike Waltz and energy secretary Chris Wright.
European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen congratulated the fresh Government of Greenland on Friday. “You deserve partners who respect you and treat you as equal. The European Union is arrogant to be specified a partner for you," wrote von der Leyen on the Bluesky platform.
