We express a strong outrage about the way the said priest was treated by law enforcement authorities, completely disproportionate to the requirements of the situation and highly repressive to the possible work for the alleged act – we read in the message from the Archdiocese of Przemysl concerning the detention of the priest in connection with the abortion in Oleśnica. The priest was detained in connection with the content of an email to Dr. Gizela Jagielska, who publically boasted about killing the kid in 9 months of pregnancy.
The Archdiocese of Przemysl is cut off from the contents of any of Fr Grzegorz's emails, leaving the rulings to “not hanging the Court.” At the same time, the curia expressed "a firm outrage at the way the priest was treated by law enforcement authorities".
In the opinion of the Archdiocese, the methods of action of the police are "totally disproportionate to the requirements of the situation and highly repressive to the possible liability for the alleged act". According to the curia, you could have been summoned to the local police unit or the Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out the essential activities there.
Meanwhile, keeping a priest in his household house, handcuffing him, searching the rectory, placing him in custody in Krosno to transport the next day more than 500 km to Olesnica to carry out the procedural work that could have been done in Krosno, and leaving the priest yet after carrying out the procedural work on the street in Olesnica, the archdiocese considers “as a means of unwarranted repression, unjustified force and humiliation, and thus a manifestation of the fight against the Catholic Church.”
"In addition, we believe that the intent of these actions was only to make a media lynching on the priest. In our view, these actions have been an unwarranted abuse of power by law enforcement authorities. In this scandalous case, in our opinion, there were no grounds for specified conduct against the priest, due to the fact that he did not hide, destruct evidence, nor did he take any another action to impede criminal proceedings," says Fr Bartosz Rajnowski, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Curia in Przemyśl.
"We would besides like to mention that at the preliminary phase of preventive action, any of the media described the above mentioned events, which may indicate that this was a prepared process to discredit the priest of the Catholic Church," added.
Archdiocese representatives perceive the above mentioned events as an attack on the Catholic Church. "We hope that in the case of increasingly frequent attacks on priests in the form of insults, defamation, threats of punishment, beatings and another criminal acts, law enforcement authorities will always act with the same determination as in the case mentioned above," he noted.
Kuria entrusts the prayer to Father Gregory and the priest's family, ensuring full support. It besides called for a peculiar prayer for the late unborn kid undergoing abortion and "other children who are besides victims of abortion".
