Passive Government to EU ETS2

Unlike another countries of our region, the Polish government is doing nothing to defend the Polish economy from the disastrous effects of the introduction of the EU ETS2.

As of 1 January 2027, the long planned carbon trading system, including transport and housing, is expected to enter into force. This strategy is simply a improvement of a long-established scheme, which, by charging large economical operators, has contributed to the fact that Europe present has the highest energy prices in the world.

European Record

As is easy to figure out, the EU ETS2 can shortly lead to an even more Europe-friendly continent with evidence prices. By imposing a fresh "green" taxation straight on consumers, the European Union strives to hit its increasingly late US or Asian economy even more.
The opposition against the EU ETS2 is, unfortunately, alternatively unsettling in the European Union, although it has late become more pronounced. Its main expression was the creation, under the leadership of the Czech Republic, of a broad coalition of states calling for delays in the introduction of the strategy and the introduction of price blocking mechanisms.

In order to anticipate the moves of opponents of the expansion of the emissions trading system, The European Commission has late put forward its own proposal to mitigate its implementation. Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra published in late October a letter addressed to the climate ministers of the coalition countries, in which he presented 5 proposals to revise the current course.

These proposals include, inter alia, the release of additional emanation permits in order to safeguard against future abrupt price increases, the anticipation of maintaining unused emanation permits in the reserve, the acceleration of the inauguration of the auction of licences and the launch of a peculiar credit strategy in cooperation with the European Investment Bank.

In spite of earlier announcements, the Dutch Commissioner's demands are so simply a insignificant modification of the system, not a compromise with the environments afraid with the horrendous costs of change. Hoekstra has made it clear that the EU ETS2 will start as planned from 2027 and that there is no compromise in this regard. The Commissioner did not even supply any details of the financing that could be expected from the European Investment Bank. Contrary to what was said earlier, he did not even propose any price limits for allowances, which could make the full strategy much more predictable.

Serious ‘return’ according to Tusk

Hoekstra's position was taken as a starting point for further discussion at the fresh European Council. However, it is clear that no agreement has been reached on it, which could be regarded as a major revision of the current course. The leaders of the countries who – under the leadership of the Czech Republic – expressed their reservations announced that they were waiting for further proposals.
However, in a very different way about the talks, Donald Tusk said that "We are witnessing a very serious turn in this issue, a change in the way we think and Poland is very much active in this".
The leader of the ruling camp is not known from this day on that his subordinateity to Brussels is wearing very beautiful sounding slogans. This time, too, it is only a slight shift in the implementation of a strategy that will sink the savings of millions of Europeans. Donald Tusk is very keen to convince the public that the issue of the EU ETS2 has already been decently resolved in favour of Poland, but there is inactive a very, very large amount to accomplish this effect.

It has long been said that the Polish government supports a group of countries most curious in delaying the introduction of the EU ETS2, although it does so in a little formal way. This would allegedly be due to the fact that in holding the EU Presidency, Poland did not seem to be in a position to defy major changes. In fact, the opposition of the Tusk government is just as illusory as in the case of the Migration Pact or trade privileges for Ukraine.

THE STATE WILL NOT STAND! Prof. Modzelewski WARNING: Fiscal Disaster 2026

For media and polling purposes, the ruling camp creates a imagination of hard opposition to EU structures and negotiations held until the last minute. This vision, in most cases, is yet simply a smokescreen, which is not supported by politicians from another countries, and even more so by final findings.

It is not in Poland's interest to hold the implementation of the EU ETS2 but to retreat it completely. This strategy has no economical rationale and only has an illusory effect on global temperatures, so it should be thrown into the dump of past as shortly as possible.

Example of Czech Republic

The right way to deal with the EU ETS2 is determined by the EU Migration Pact, which states of our region have simply stopped implementing. Following an election triumph in the Czech Republic, the formation led by Andrei Babiš declared that the decision not to respect the provisions of the Pact would be the first to be taken by the recently formed government. Our confederate neighbours follow Hungary in this respect, where Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has already stated explicitly that the state he governs does not intend to accept any illegal immigrants imposed on him by Brussels. The leader of Fidesz is besides arrogant that Hungary remains the safest country in Europe.

The fresh Czech government, created by the coalition of the Andrej Babiš ANO party, the anti-Brussels movement of drivers and Freedom and Direct Democracy, openly declares that it will not implement the EU ETS2 emissions trading system. Given the erstwhile commitments made by the Czech State during the erstwhile governments, Prague will most likely be forced to pay certain penalties, even blackmailed by refusal to grant. However, the price for the opposition will be lower than the costs to the Czech economy and consumers.

If the opposition of Brussels wants to face Czechs, then it is all the more crucial for Poles, who, thanks to the EU ETS2, can compression the growth of their own economy. As late acknowledged in an interview with German television, the head of the Think Tank Epico Klima-Innovation, Bernd Weber, for 3 million households in Poland, the expansion of the carbon trading strategy will mean an increase in energy prices by up to 150 percent.

The EU ETS2 discussion is becoming increasingly grim. The Old Continent remains almost the last simplification in climateism, defending highly ideological solutions completely against economical logic.

At the same time, in the United States, the Trump administration managed, in October alone, to retreat the U.S. state from the taxation on emissions in maritime transport, to cancel another tranche of alleged clean energy projects for over $7 billion and to declare all the Department of Defense's climate commitments.

The United States and the European Union are presently heading in economical terms in 2 polarly different directions, and Poland is unfortunately a hostage to the course in the very incorrect direction.
