A glimmer of hope for Syria after US decision

The United States on Monday issued a six-month waiver of sanctions for transactions with government institutions in Syria, a decision intended to ease the flow of humanitarian aid. However, it does not mean a complete lifting of sanctions on Syrian state institutions or the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group (HTS), which, together with coalition forces, overthrew the government of Bashar al-Assad.
