Cold shower for Friedrich Merz. "Bild" summarizes Chancellor's visit to Warsaw: he had to perceive to harsh criticism

He admitted that it was actual that all country has the right to defend its territory from illegal crossings. After this remark came the large “but”: “I will not deny that there is an impression that Germany is now sending migrant groups to Poland. We won't accept it.

How did Merz react? Chancellor tried to descale, but He only made it halfway.. He was “grateful” that Tusk felt that “all associate States have the right to regulate access to their territory.” Polish “great and immense efforts” for border safety are appreciated. Merz added that last Sunday he spoke to Tuski on the telephone in and agreed on this issue. However, the Polish Prime Minister did not seem convinced.

"Bild" learned from Polish government circles that before the visit there was indeed a telephone conversation between Merzem and Tuski. However, according to respective Polish sources, Tusk expressed concern that the policy announced at the borders with additional controls can lead to chaos in the movement between Germany and Poland. The Polish government circles passed on “Bild” that Merz had to cancel the alarm and tell Tusk that the current position would not change.
