Less than an hr and a half before the end of the US ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz, US president Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire in the conflict with Iran. The decision was conditional on the "full, immediate and safe" resumption of shipping through the strategical oil transport route. Trump said Washington had received a 10-point proposal from Tehran, which he considered a "viable basis for negotiations."
