What's the ceremony allowance? A rise of respective 1000 was approved
On 3 June 2025, an amendment to the Act on Pensions and Pensions from the Social Insurance Fund and any another laws was published in the diary of the Laws. Its primary nonsubjective is to rise the ceremony allowance from PLN 4 to PLN 7 thousand. The fresh amount will apply from 1 January 2026. In addition, the benefit will be valued on 1 March if inflation in the erstwhile year exceeds 5%. Interestingly, the evaluation of the task of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy revealed that the planned increase, in today's realities, may inactive be insufficient.
The proposed amount of the ceremony allowance, despite an increase of 75%, may inactive not finance ceremony costs, especially in large cities. However, as indicated above, this does not conflict with the intent of the ceremony allowance, which is to safe to a certain degree the ceremony expenses
- explained. As the ministry points out, the intent of the single allowance is to cover most of the standard, essential and widely accepted ceremony costs. This is primarily about the expenses associated with burial, that is, laying the body or the ashes to the grave.

The amount of the ceremony allowance is not all.
In accordance with the applicable rules, ceremony grants may be applied for:

family members of the deceased (e.g. spouse, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings);
other natural persons (neighbors, acquaintances, another persons not related);
legal entities (employer, social assistance house, municipality, parish).

However, they must prove that they have paid for the ceremony and have papers to support that. In addition, a ceremony allowance shall be granted only in the event of death:

the household associate of the insured pensioner or pensioner;
the insured individual (or deceased after the insurance has ceased, provided that the death occurred during the period of receipt of benefits specified as sickness or rehabilitation allowance);
the individual receiving the benefit: pension or pension;
a individual who, on the day of his death, did not have a fixed right to a pension but fulfilled the conditions for obtaining it.

The amendment will not only rise the amount of the allowance but will besides improve the process of granting money. From next year, ZUS will no longer gotta make decisions on this substance if the ceremony costs are borne by 1 individual - a associate of the household of the deceased. According to the Legal Gazette, according to the fresh rules, the payment of the benefit to a household associate will take place within 14 days of the date of the last essential circumstance. So far, ZUS paid out money within 30 days. In the case of expenses incurred by respective persons or legal entity, ZUS will have 14 days to issue the decision and a further 14 days to pay, counting from the date of the last essential circumstances.
