Invitation. Did he get it or not?

Antoni Macierewicz claims that he did not receive an invitation and interprets the situation as an effort at political appropriation of the KOR's heritage. In turn, the Office for Combatants and Represented Persons reported that on September 11, he sent a politician an invitation he was not expected to take.

In an interview with Salon24 Macierwicz presented his version of events:

I didn't get an invitation, and I'm not surprised. – he said. – Donald Tusk will do anything to claim the NRA for his purposes. He wants this organization to be associated as left-wing, post-communist, and tries to stamp out the function of those with whom he disagrees. Is it rude that I didn't get an invitation? Nope. It's just an component of Donald Tusk's anti-Polish behavior.

Among those invited to the ceremony were besides the activists of the Wroclaw opposition environment connected with the National Park, including Krzysztof Turkowski, Jarosław Broda and Krzysztof Grzelczyk. Their activities in the structures of KOR and KSS KOR are documented, among others, in the materials of the Institute of National Memory and the "Encyclopaedia of Solidarity".

Incident during the month

The reason for the declared deficiency of invitation for Antoni Macierewicz may besides be an incidental with his participation taking place during the last Smolensk monthly. The politician then appeared in Piłsudski Square with an object resembling a painting gun. There has been a stir between the erstwhile Minister of Defence and the demonstrators. erstwhile asked by a reporter about this event, Macerewicz argued that he was being pursued by 1 of the people who was expected to prevent him, as he described himself, from “attacking president Kaczyński.”

The writer besides asked what precisely the politician had in his hand. Macierewicz did not give a clear answer by giving a discussion about – in his opinion – the support of part of the media for "the attack on president Kaczyński". PiS politician was besides asked about events that occurred on Sunday before the Academy of Justice. The recording from this incidental shows how Macerewicz shows the officers the parliamentary card and demands that he be allowed to enter the university. The MP then approached 1 of the officers and touched his uniform, attempting to check the obscured name. Later in his conversation with journalists, however, he denied touching a policeman.

I didn't contact any cop. That cop was hiding his information number. – explained Macerewicz.

When Radomir Witt asked him again about the reason for touching the officer's uniform, the MP replied that he did not contact the policeman himself, but only a fragment of the inscription on his vest.

History of the NRA

The Workers' Defence Committee was formed on 23 September 1976 in consequence to the repression of the Polish People's Republic authorities against the participants of the workers' protests of June of the same year, including in Radom and Ursus. Behind its emergence were representatives of intellectual and opposition circles. The founders included Jacek Kuroń, Antoni Macierewicz, Jan Józef Lipski, Edward Lipiński, Jerzy Andrzejewski and Piotr Naimski.

The most crucial task of the NRA was to supply fast legal, material and medical assistance to the persecuted workers and their families. The organisation besides distinguished itself by the open nature of its activities, informing the public about its existence by providing the authorities with a list of members and contact details. The NRA besides contributed to the improvement of an independent publishing circuit, including the ‘Information Bulletin’, thus limiting the state's information monopoly.

After the 1977 announcement of amnesty for imprisoned workers, the organization became a Committee of Social Self-defense "KOR". Its activity has become 1 of the crucial stages on the road to the formation of the NSZZ “Solidarity”.
