The Qiongzhou Strait is an crucial link between Hainan duty-free port and the mainland, serving more than 90% of the transport of products and everyday items from Hainan. Located on the north bank of the Strait, Xuwen region in Guangdong state serves as both a key hub for the distribution of goods from the continent to Hainan and a central communication hub for goods from Hainan headed north to the continent.
The “Hump” drone for dense cargo transport took off with full burden from Xuwen global Logistics Park in Guangdong, carrying 100 kilograms of fruit and cargo requiring cooling. After a seamless 20-minute flight, he landed precisely on a landing ground in the port of Xinhai in Haikou. This operation shortened the conventional logistics time of "land-water transport" from more than 5 hours to little than half an hour, setting up a "air express line" between Guangdong and Hainan.
At the same time, on the northern way of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, the transport drone “Camel Hump” took off from the Dalian Dengshahe General Aviation Industrial Park industrial park. By flying over the Yellow Sea and passing the islands, including Dachangshan and Wumang in Changhai County, he delivered 40 kilograms of fresh products to the economical region in Dalian Bay Bihai Villa.
It was the first trucking drone flight by the sea in northeastern China, which successfully initiated the first circular of verification of logistics scenarios with a large burden and long scope at low altitudes on the islands. This is another step towards establishing a regular logistics link between islands operated by unmanned flying vehicles.
The “Hump” drone for the dense cargo transport that made this flight was developed independently by Chongqing Camel Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. The device has a maximum burden capacity of 300 kilograms, a scope of 300 kilometres and a wind opposition of up to 8 degrees, allowing it to operate in complex geographical and climatic conditions, including with strong wind, low temperatures and salt mist circumstantial to the region. The virgin flight allowed to show the ability of the drone “Hump” to face the challenges of low temperatures, but besides confirmed the safety and practicality of drones in maritime transport.
