On the 490th anniversary of the birth, representatives of the Fr Piotr Skarga Association laid wreaths at the monument and at the sarcophagus of this Servant of God. Fr Jan Machniak, parish priest of All Saints, attended the ceremony.

It is hard to imagine the past of counter-reformation in Poland without the activity of an outstanding Jesuit, Fr Piotr Skarga. The royal preacher fiercely fought against the errors of Protestantism, caring for the Catholic character of the Polish monarchy. He tirelessly appealed and pressed for Polish laws and the Polish way of life to be completely steeped in the Gospel. He besides boldly branded his sins, for example, for the oppressed peasantry. His Lives of Saints and Seyms are an absolute classical of Polish spiritual literature and our political thought.

The memory of this large Pole is nurtured by the Fr Piotr Skarga Christian Culture Association. His representatives on the anniversary of their patron's birthday laid wreaths under his monument to Mary Magdalene and sarcophagus in the church of St Peter and Paul. The ceremony was attended by and led by the prayer of the guardian of the resting place of the temporal remains of Ecclesiastes, Fr. prof. Jan Machniak.

This year, which is worth highlighting, Fr Skarga was besides remembered by Karol Nawrocki, whose typical placed presidential wreaths on the birthday of the Servant of God, emphasizing the memory of this prominent Pole.
