Day 888.
There's been quite a few Kurachov news today.
Here, after the Russian forces carried out a series of unsuccessful attempts to find a weak point in Kostiantiniwiec and its surroundings, Russian commanders had to adjust their approach
This led to a change in tactics and preparations for 1 of the largest Russian mechanized attacks since the start of the war.
The polling attacks observed over the last period aimed at assessing the strength of the Ukrainian response, identifying the types of ammunition utilized and, most importantly, measuring the time between detection and response.
As all erstwhile assault units were rapidly and decisively neutralized, Russian commanders concluded that only much greater force can guarantee that at least any troops scope Kostiantenko.
Consequently, they began to form a reinforced battalion size group, consisting of almost 70 vehicles, namely 11 tanks, 46 armored combat vehicles, 12 motorcycles and 200 soldiers.
Interestingly, the Russians even included 1 of their uncommon vehicles – the BMPT Terminator, which was designed as a tank support combat vehicle and reportedly only 23 units of this vehicle were manufactured by December 2023.
The size and diversity of this assault group underline the importance of the operation for the Russians and their readiness to invest importantly in order to safe the foothold in Kostiantiniwiec and usage it as a starting point for further progress
The Russian assault group was divided into respective subgroups, each of which was commanded by a tank, followed by respective armored combat vehicles carrying soldiers, and then motorcycles
These subgroups attacked at the same time, choosing a strategy to overwhelm Ukrainian defenders with the same numbers and thus to separate their efforts.
The goal was to penetrate the Kostiantenko from the south and take position there.
As you may recall, the defence of this part of the front was entrusted to the 79th Infantry and Assault Brigade, 1 of the best prepared and equipped elite Ukrainian forces.
The brigade's drone operators keep rigorous surveillance of the zero line day and night, and besides monitor Russian rears to foretell enemy movements and respond proactively
No wonder they detected this large, armored column from a long distance and raised an alarm in all liable Ukrainian units in the area.
The first line of defence against specified armored attacks is to make vast minefields, and Ukrainian bomb squads in the region have already demonstrated the accuracy of their work.
However, given the size of the enemy's forces, it was apparent that relying solely on minefields was not adequate to halt the Russian offensive.
Realizing the anticipation of a critical situation, Ukrainians decided to usage all available weapons in their arsenal.
Geolocalized recordings published by the brigade show artillery and kamikaze drones gross different enemy vehicles on the outskirts of the village.
These images not only uncover the sophisticated tactics of the Russians, but besides emphasize the variability of their assault groups
Although all work according to a akin scheme, their sizes vary – any groups number up to 10 vehicles and others from 3 to 5.
The movie highlights the adaptability and readiness of Ukrainian forces to counter specified diverse large-scale attacks.
At the same time, the recording is an example of a Ukrainian multi-layered approach, consistently aimed at damaging the frontal vehicle of each column.
The goal was to destruct it to either halt the remainder of the column from moving forward or immobilize it, making it easier targets for artillery and drone crews.
Various materials present not only the destructive effectiveness of this tactic, but besides the key function of previously arranged minefields, as evidenced by respective powerful explosions of Russian armored combat vehicles.
This strategical combination led to crucial success, and the 79th Air Force Assault Brigade confirmed that it successfully repelled the Russian attack.
By removing leading vehicles in each subgroup, they suffered crucial injuries: 6 out of 11 tanks were destroyed, 10 out of 46 armored combat vehicles were destroyed, all 12 motorcycles were destroyed, and of 200 Russian soldiers 40 were killed, and 37 were injured.
