25 years of Poland in NATO. A common road to security

Today we celebrate a unique minute in the past of Poland – the 25th anniversary of joining the North Atlantic Pact, briefly called NATO. It is an crucial milestone that has not only determined the directions of abroad and defence policy of our country, but has besides become a symbol of the end of cold war isolation and the beginning of a fresh safety era.

25 years ago, precisely 12 March 1999, Poland, along with the Czechs and Hungary, officially joined NATO, beginning a fresh chapter in its history. It was a minute that many Poles accepted with large hope, seeing in it a warrant of safety and stableness in a changing world.
