Poland, like many another European countries, is facing a serious demographic crisis. According to CSO data, 250,000 children were born in 2024 in our country. In 2023 the score was 272.7 thousand, while in 2017 about 400,000 were born. The decline is so gigantic. Moreover, at the end of last year, as many as 141 children aged 0-14 were over 65. Why is that? This is affected by many factors, including rising costs of living, changing habits, insecurity and many crises. Although the situation is difficult, any ideas for improving it can origin confusion. 1 of them is simply a citizens' proposal that went to the Chancellery of president Karol Nawrocki.

A mother's wage from the state. Up to 200 percent of minimum wage
The thought is that women who rise children should be guaranteed salaries and pension contributions. Support would grow with the number of children. For the birth of a first child, the parent would be entitled to a wage of 50% of the minimum salary. presently it is PLN 2,333 gross. With the second child, the state would already pay the full minimum salary, i.e. presently PLN 4666 gross, while with the 3rd PLN 6 999 gross (150 percent). The maximum rate, for 4 children, would be 2 minimum salaries, i.e. as much as 9 332 PLN per month. According to the petition's author, specified remuneration should be paid until retirement and should interact with another benefits intended for families with children.
Mother benefit - hit or kit? It's not that simple.
The wage would besides include a future pension, which would change the financial situation of many families.
I have a colleague who is 70 and he and his wife raised 4 children. The wife worked her full life with children and in effect has a pension of 0 PLN. If it wasn't for the kids, they wouldn't have anything to live for. A colleague has a pension of PLN 3300, which, with drugs and rehabilitation costs, is not adequate for life
- describes the petitioner, as quoted by Farmer portal. Thanks to additional contributions, a female who would become a parent at the age of 30 and did not work until her retirement age could number on a benefit of PLN 600 for 1 child, PLN 1,200 for 2 and almost full minimum pension for three.

However, it is worth noting that this is simply a simple citizens' petition, which allows us to believe that specified an thought will never be implemented. Although in explanation this solution would aid women and solve the problem of a declining number of children, the effect could be completely opposite. The problem would be not only immense spending for the state, but besides immense changes in the labour marketplace from which women would disappear.
