23 migrants detained in Chochołów

On October 26, officers from the SG Office in Zakopane detained a group of 22 citizens of Turkey and a citizen of Afghanistan who walked illegally across the border from Slovakia to Poland.

Turkish nationals of Kurdish origin (including 8 women and 10 minors) had passports, ID cards, driving licences. On the another hand, the citizen of Afghanistan had no identity card. no of the foreigners had papers entitling them to legally cross the border and stay in Poland.

The SG patrol spotted a VAN-type passenger car on the Czech registration numbers parked close the OSP firehouse in Chochołów. It turned out that the driver, a 22-year-old Georgian citizen, was waiting for a group of migrants detained by SG officers. After checking the vehicle in the available systems, it was found to have been registered by the Hungarian side as a car active in the organisation of illegal migration. The driver was detained in connection with this case. All foreigners were brought to the SG Station in Zakopane.
