216. The man who convinced me it was worth dressing up.

Robert Redford (18 August 1936 – 16 September 2025). The full net is talking about his large roles, about his charity, about what a good man he was. I'm glad due to the fact that he deserves that. He's crucial to me for 1 more reason: He convinced me it was worth being well-dressed. Actually, it was a character created by him, most likely Johnny Hooker from The Stings, but I would gotta watch the movie again to make sure.

Besides Robert, there were 2 more men who inspired me with their style: Edward Fox (Shakal Day) and John Lydon a.k.a. Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols, Public Image Limited), but it was Redford who taught me that you could be completely broke, but you gotta look good.

Today, I firmly believe that if a man does not care for himself, either he never believed in himself or he has already given up. Thanks, Robert! For that too, but above all, for large roles. Sometimes I'm afraid that all the large ones will be forgotten, and others will disown them. It may be, but as long as I'm alive, there's no fear of Redford.
