Day 753,

Today, many messages from the Bachmut direction appeared

At this point, the most interesting events took place in the confederate part of the region, where Russian forces completely changed their offensive plan, opened a fresh direction of attack and carried out a series of powerful attacks south of Ivanavian.

The reason why Russian forces abruptly decided to adapt their approach is twofold

Firstly, the Ivanavian village was ruined by Russian artillery and aviation, and having no place to search refuge, it was increasingly hard for Russians to establish unchangeable footholds inside the village.
As a result, the Russians suffered so much failure that they had to halt the attacks to replenish supplies and regroup as reported by Ukrainian soldiers.

Secondly, Ukrainian soldiers further exacerbated Russian problems by establishing their main positions around the settlement and transforming it into a killing zone.
If we look at the topographic map, we will see a tactical hill northwest of the village, which gave the Ukrainians the chance to watch and attack Russians who tried to decision along the road.

Russian forces have already attempted to attack Ukrainian positions in the hills, nevertheless the Ukrainians managed to withstand Russian artillery attacks and bombings, followed by intense infantry attacks.
As the plan to bypass the Ivanovian from the north failed, Russian commanders decided to effort to bypass the village from the south.

The main goal of the Russian forces was to scope the forest, establish a cape and cut Ukrainian supplies passing through the canal.
As Russian forces dig up, they can extend their offensive activities, moving north through the forest, gradually approaching the hills.

If the Russians had managed to scope the hills, it would have enabled them to cut off the supply path, as well as take positions behind Ukrainian positions on a tactical hill, allowing them to strike the Ukrainians from behind.
Such a improvement would have led Ukrainians on the hill and in the village to be in the lap, allowing Russians to take control of the remainder of the village and decision further towards the main fortress in the next phase of the attack.

The first Russian attacks were aimed at Ukrainian positions in the tree line south of the village.
Russian forces carried out mechanized attacks, passing across the confederate village street and attacking Ukrainian positions in the tree line from the north.
Given the nature of the erstwhile attacks in the region, it appears that the Russians besides conducted an infantry attack through the fields.

Ukrainian soldiers reported that initially the Russians had made progressive progress, moving to 2 kilometres south of the village.
Nevertheless, erstwhile the Russian forces reached the forest approach, their advancement was stuck at a dead end and Ukrainian forces took the initiative.
It seems that the Russians have exaggerated, as it is very hard to gather forces on uncommon positions on the another side of the fields, simultaneously attacking densely placed Ukrainian positions in the forest.

Moreover, Ukrainian soldiers from the 93rd Mechanized Brigade published many films showing how their drone operators conducted concentrated raids on Russian positions in the fields
The movie contains dozens of attacks on Russian shelters, which even more complicated the accumulation efforts of Russian forces.
These strikes, combined with Ukrainian ground operations, led to a collapse of the front line.
Ukrainians managed to repel the Russian attack from the flank and push them back to square one.
Ukrainian soldiers reported that yet all Russian attacks went to waste, and the Russians suffered dense losses in men and equipment.

In general, Russian forces underestimated the density of Ukrainian fortifications southwest of Ivanavian and failed to make a partial tour of the village from the south.
Inability to supply attacking forces through the death region led to the fast completion of offensive actions and the collapse of the wharf.

But more importantly, Russian forces failed to scope Chasiv Jar early in spring.
The intercepted radio calls indicate that the Russians kept the pace of the operation so high, bearing far greater than essential losses in people and equipment just due to the fact that Russian commanders wanted to enter Chasiv Jaru before the presidential election.
To accomplish this goal would supply them with fresh degrees and distinctions, but so far only degraded the most efficient Russian assault units
