The Day of Forgetfulness has been celebrated for respective years on May 15. On this day we advance especially the value of Polish nature and biodiversity, we remind you of the request to defend it. In addition, the “non-forgotten” aims to preserve from forgetting crucial moments in life, people, places and situations, local traditions. This festival encourages us to remember our loved ones, to be kind and open to another man, to see him on our own estate, territory or city, reminds us of the essence of caring for our surroundings. “It reminds us of the respect we should have for the nature of “small” and “great homeland”, it reminds us of the value that local traditions or products of human thought bring with them – specified as “archives” preserved in cities, towns and villages.
The forgetfulness is besides a Masonic symbol.
In 1934, the “Great Sun Lodge” (one of the pre-war German large Lodges in Bayreuth), knowing the threat from the Nazis, accepted the unforgotten as a substitute for the conventional circus and coalmine. It was thought that the flower would aid the brothers to admit themselves, reducing the hazard of possible Nazi detection, which active the mass confiscation of all Masonic lasses. Masoneria went underground, and this delicate flower assumed its function as a symbol of free-multure and survived through these dark years.
In the next decade of Nazi rule, the forgetful, worn in a flap by the brothers, served as 1 of the hallmarks in public places, as well as in cities and concentration camps throughout Europe.
In concentration camps, freemulators were marked with a red triangle sewn to stripes, meaning “political prisoner”.
