110 years after the large War. Innovation in the Field of Combat [COMMENTARY]

The industrial war has shown a fresh and terrifying face of land struggle. The artillery supremacy and fresh fighting measures in the form of tanks and aircraft have materialized. The large War was besides a turning point – it sparked a revolution in infantry tactics. The infantry formations, which were inactive in the erstwhile era in 1914, in 4 years have adapted to the realities of modern industrial warfare, passing from the linear formations of the 19th century through trench warfare tactics to yet make a fresh doctrine of combined action that effectively combined maneuvering with firepower. The changes we see between 1914 and 18 are besides a good example of a hard process of adaptation forced by the reality of the battlefield according to the timeless rule of General William Balck: "Adversary missiles rapidly form a fresh tactic".
