Originally a solemn assembly connected with the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Poland's coronation with the participation of the most crucial people in the country was to be held on Saturday 26 April. However, this deadline was postponed to Friday (the day before) due to president Andrzej Duda's national mourning.
The reason for the introduction of national mourning is the ceremony of Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday as a consequence of stroke and circulatory failure. Both the president of Poland and the talker of the Sejm fly to the Vatican and participate in ceremony ceremonies.
Exceptional safety measures in Gniezno. Residents must watch out for this ban
Due to the exceptional rank of the ceremony, peculiar regulations are now in force in Gniezno. The Ministry of Interior and Administration introduced a ban on carrying weapons – even unloaded. The regulation appeared on Thursday in the diary of Laws and aims to increase safety during events involving the President, Prime Minister, marshals and parliamentarians.
The Ministry of abroad Affairs explains that the decision was taken in the context of increasing hybrid threats, including from Russia and Belarus, and in order to guarantee a dignified and peaceful conduct of the ceremony.
