In his first authoritative speech, held before the National Assembly on 6 August, Karol Nawrocki announced that he intended to be the voice of citizens demanding the fulfilment of the electoral promises. He besides declared that by 2030 he would like to lead to the adoption of a fresh constitution. In a fresh tv interview in Poland24 stated that the current basic law in the last 2 years it has been broken regularly. He besides stressed that if State destabilisation process will not be stopped, will ask for a referendum.
The conflict with the government was manifested both in the President's relations with Prime Minister Donald Tuski, as well as in disputes concerning the improvement of the judiciary, the cast of diplomatic posts and nominations, peculiarly in government-led services.
Presidential veto
According to President.pl, during the first 100 days of office the president presented 11 draft laws, 13 laws vetoed and 70 signed. He gave rank to 22 officers, and besides appointed 64 judges and asessors. He made 11 abroad trips – including twice to the US – and accepted 6 abroad leaders. In the country, he made more than 20 visits and presented more than 24,000 awards.
During the first 100 days of office, the president vetoed respective laws, including the alleged Wind Act, which was intended to simplify the principles of investment in land wind energy and introduce a freezing of electricity prices for households by the end of 2025. The President's veto was besides covered by the amendment of the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens, the provisions deregulation the energy sector and the amendment of the law on the prevention of sexual and kid protection offences (the alleged lex Kamilek).
Unification of the Polish Right
The president has besides taken a number of actions that point to his willingness to consolidate the right, including the Confederacy. In October, he met with the leader of the right-wing coalition Sławomir Mentzen.
I think it was a very good and constructive conversation, which I'm very pleased with. – Mentzen said after the meeting.
In addition, he took part in the November independency March, which was besides attended by Confederate and PiS MPs.
Good relations with the USA
Since the beginning of his tenure, Karol Nawrocki has twice visited the United States, including Washington, where he met with president Donald Trump to strengthen his relation with the US. He brought from there the assurance of maintaining the stationing of American soldiers in Poland and the invitation to the G20 summit, to which the Polish government seeks to join.
