It has been 10 days of the large spring summertime offensive of Ukraine. It's time for the first summary.
First and foremost, the effects of Ukrainian attack are poor. Secondly, Ukrainian losses are frighteningly high. Thirdly, the Russian side, as it was 80 years ago in the Kursk Bow, prepared an excellent defence battle, especially in terms of engineering and artillery cooperation.
Currently, you can see that in the Ukrainian offensive plan there are, as in the Arc Kursk 2 sections of the front breach. 1 in Zaporozh and the another around Bachmut, where the units of General Alexander of the Syrians clashed with the troops of General Kuzowlev. So far, Stoic calm Kuzowleva and his sub-group “South” have effectively stopped the impulsive Syrian general whose units have late lost quite a few equipment with tiny field profits.
In the north, Ukrainian expeditions to the 6th Military Army and an episode of General Nikiforov seem to be a simple diversion.
He's going to attack another Ukrainian group somewhere, but present it's hard to tell where. So far, the main Ukrainian strike has fallen on Zaporozh, on the Russian “East” group. On an episode close the city of Oriechowo, the 47th Self-Mechanized Brigade was introduced into the fight, which, like the Second SS Armoured Corps on the Kursk Bow, with Leopard-2 tanks and Bradley's fighting infantry cars, was to be a “tran” attack.
Well, like 80 years ago, as the Russians say, "I did not beat the prativator." Bradleye and Leopardy, like the onegda PzKpf VI Tiger and PzKpfw V PhanterD were stuck in Russian minefields and in the fire of Russian artillery and anti-tank missiles including being fired from Ka-52 helicopters.
It rained and the front actually died in the Oriech operating direction. Ukrainians regroup and bring in the main forces of the 9th Corps here. In the coming days, they will most likely resume the attack here, only with more force.
The Ukrainian forces achieved their top success by attacking the interface between Zaporozh and the Donetsk People's Republic. Attack 128 of the Storm Mountain Brigade, 68 of the Mechanized Brigade, 37 and 35 of the Marine Infantry Brigade, with the strong support of modern artillery (supply from NATO countries), including the Himars and MARS launchers, pushed the Russian 60 Guards of the Mechanized Brigade, 37 of the Mechanized Brigade, and the battalion tactical group “Kaskad”. The situation was saved by the heroic attitude of Russian artillerymen from the 165th Artillery Brigade, which after 10 days of fighting for the demonstrated attitude by the decision of the president of the FR was awarded the honorary name Guard.
On 9-12 June, Russian forces were forced to retreat from 3-4 tiny villages in the alleged Wriemiewski Performance. O key, lying on the hill of Makariwka, the parties fight hard the second day. The village went from cancer to hands 3 times. The Russian command introduced the reserve into the battle: elements of the 336 Guards Marine Brigade in the strength of 3 battalions and 2 regiments of the 127th Mechanized Division, which led to the defeat on June 12. The Ukrainians, for their part, introduced the 3rd Armored Brigade and 68th firearm Brigade to the fight. In dense encounter battles, the Russians partially rejected Ukrainians, but conducted on 13 June counterattacks did not fundamentally change the front lines.
At 1 of the advanced command points, the Chief of Staff of the 35th Military Army General Sergei Goriachev was killed. The Himars Ukrainians hit a field command post.
Rain and cloudiness turned roads into mud and limited the operation of Russian aviation and drones of both sides.
After 10 days of dense fighting, even Ukrainians did not approach the Russian main line of defence, about 15 km away. Both parties usage the "Kamikaze" drones effectively in combat and to correct artillery fire. The electronic radio combat measures should make communication and interference hard for the parties.
Probably, in order to deepen the breach, the Ukrainians will bring the 4th Armoured Brigade into combat, which should give them success, but... next day the weather is expected to importantly improve and Russian Ka-52 assault helicopters with "Wichr" missiles will enter the fight.
For the 10th Corps positions and ammunition supply points, fuel at the rear of Ukrainian troops at night of 12/13 June The Russians made strong bomb blasts by tactical aviation and in the depths of the operational forces of strategical Aviation – an attack with Ch-555 and Ch-101 maneuvering missiles in 2 waves from Olenja and Engels Airport.
