Day 773

Today there are many updates from the Bachmut direction

The most intense fighting takes place on the northern flank of Chasiv Jaru

Here the Russian forces conducted a series of powerful mechanized storms and officially launched another large battle—the conflict for Chasiv Jar.
Russian forces seem to have thrown all available units into conflict – both professionals and recently mobilized soldiers – due to the fact that while any Russian assault units were well coordinated, others had specified fatal coordination that most of them died as a consequence of fratricidal fire.

Last time I spoke, how the Russians managed to advance along the railway tracks and scope a tiny forest just 500 meters from the fortress

According to the latest news, the Russians were trying to keep the attack pace to enter Chasiv Jar from the east.
To prepare the conditions for another wave of storms, the Russians conducted artillery preparations aimed at Ukrainian trenches and bombed the surrounding Ukrainian defensive positions with gliders.

After suppressing Ukrainian fire, the Russians sent forward a column of combat infantry wagons with soldiers on board to storm.
The Russians sent forward a column of 8 combat vehicles of the BMP, twice as many as before.
Vehicles tried to keep distant from each another while maintaining advanced velocity on the road, making it hard to mark Ukrainian artillery.
When the assault group approached, it divided into 2 units, 1 of which BMP went straight to town.
This lone BMP was sent as bait to distract Ukrainian fire from the main assault group.
The lone BMP, who went to Chasiv Jar, was destroyed by an artillery shelling after being stopped, but managed to drop the Russian assault squad, who besides rapidly found themselves under fire.
The suicide squad was besides small, counting only about 7 soldiers that the BMP could carry.

Even if they were not killed by Ukrainian strikes, another units could not support them due to intense fire, and it was not worth risking major losses to save the troops, so Russian soldiers were left alone and most likely died.
Meanwhile, the remaining 7 BMPs dropped their infantry in a tiny forest.
From there, the Russians tried to take control of the forest to proceed trying to take control of the Channel District.

Film footage shows that during 1 specified attack 3 BMPs tried to escape Ukrainian artillery.
Although all 3 vehicles successfully dropped the infantry, Russian soldiers were immediately tracked by Ukrainian precision artillery
Worse still, Russian Su 25 air support aircraft accidentally bombed their own forces, minimising the chances of Russian soldiers surviving to zero.
This shows a deficiency of coordination and mediocre communication
Due to complex Russian bureaucracy and centralised command with a long decision-making process, it takes up to 4 hours to scope air support for the targets, which in most cases are transferred at that time.
Thus, before Russian close air support carried out the air strike, Russian land forces moved to the mark zone, attempting to adapt to the conditions of the fight.
In addition, the centralised decision-making process for the deployment of air support cuts off regular units from regular soldiers and their platoon commanders from any form of communication with close air support, thus preventing them from canceling air support which may endanger their own forces.

Ukrainians knew that the Russians would launch direct frontal attacks on the city and dug trenches in front of the blocks and along Green and Gorbatov streets, while camouflaged reflection points were set in the blocks to correct artillery fire and lead drone attacks.
Although the Russians managed to enter the east part of Chasiv Jaru, it was only temporary, and their only real prey are the positions in the forest between the city and Bohdanivka.
The Russian goal is to establish control of the canal district, but direct attacks on the city would be untenable, and it is doubtful whether the Russians can bypass positions that were fortified for months in advance due to advanced buildings and trenches on virtually all corner of the district.
