Russian-Ukrainian War (as of morning 09.04.2026):
- In the last 24 hours, both sides have been attacking drones. Ukrainians attacked Crimea, mostly diesel retention in Theodosia.
- The Russians in turn hit tankers docking in the harbor Izmail and an oil warehouse in Meraf close Kharkov.
- The current dynamics of action on the front indicates the dominance of artillery, drones and precise strokes, the deficiency of large-scale operational manoeuvre and the gradual usage of resources on both sides.
- Another dense Oruchov bombing. The Russian forces have full fire control over the city, but the occasional attacks do not bring success.
- A fresh Russian effort to take Wozdwiżenko broke down.
- Ukraine conducts local offensive activities (e.g. the area of Nowy Chess), but without crucial territorial successes and alternatively to bind the opposing forces alternatively than to recover large areas.
- No changes on the another front sections.
- U.S. Vice president J.D. Vance accused European leaders of not engaging in the end of the war. He suggested that Europe's actions were insufficient and stressed Hungary's function as an active associate in political talks. Vance's statements during his visit to Budapest follow the wider trend of Western differences in the approach to war and signal tensions within NATO and the EU on the strategy towards Russia.
