New obligations to make certain goods and products available

The provisions of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and of the Council of May 31, 2023 on the making available on the Union marketplace and exports from the Union of certain goods and products related to deforestation and forest degradation and repealing Regulation (EU) No. 995/2010, commonly referred to as the Deforestation Regulation or EUDR, were expected to take effect on December 30, 2024 for large enterprises, and on June 30, 2025 for micro and tiny enterprises. It turns out, however, that as a consequence of the European Commission's October 2, 2024 communication, these regulations may come into force a year later. This was confirmed by the European Parliament in mid-December 2024.
